Community Housing Partnership

Typically, a community housing partnership is a nonprofit association that works for the cause of affordable housing, often in collaboration with other institutions, stakeholders, nonprofits and/or government agencies. Community housing partnerships have widely varying goals, priorities and methods. Some are focused on housing for special needs groups, others on homelessness, others on apartments, others on single-family homes, and so forth.

Implementation Examples Outside Georgia

Minnesota - The Rochester/Olmsted Community Housing Partnership, generally known simply as CHP, is a nonprofit group founded in 1990 to create affordable housing for low-income residents of the City of Rochester and Olmsted County. (The famed Mayo Clinic is located in Rochester, and thus housing tends to be rather expensive.) CHP works with various public and private developers to create and maintain affordable housing. CHP has helped with the purchase of over 900 single-family homes, and has also participated in the development of three communities that provide about 45 units in total of affordable rental housing.
