Implementation Examples Outside Georgia Washington - Located in Kenmore, Washington, a suburb 15 miles from Seattle, Bastyr University is seeking to expand its campus, and has created a new master plan. An EIS (environmental impact statement) was completed in December 2004, and it indicated potential issues with traffic and the environment. By stating the impacts of the project, and how those impacts could be softened, the EIS has helped the university and the city agree upon various mitigation measures and changes to the expansion master plan. For example, the university has agreed to pay over $700,000 to the city for traffic improvement. At present (11/05) the university and the city are continuing to negotiate.
